Ductless Fume Hood with Multiple Filter/Fan Unit Placement Options

Does your Ductless Fume Hood need to meet certain height or design constraints?

Sentry Air offers an "detached filter/fan unit" configuration that is designed to allow the filter/fan unit (or air cleaner) to be placed either beside, behind, underneath the fume hood, or wall-mounted, as opposed to directly on top of the hood. The majority of fume hoods on the market do not allow for this kind of modification.

 

Benefits of this configuration:

• Decreased hood height to fit under cabinets or other limited space environments.
• Decreased sound level if the filter/fan unit is placed in cabinets underneath the fume hood.
• Maintenance- Filter Replacement is easier because you don't have to remove filter housing from the top of the hood.
• Air Volume Modification- standard blower sizes can be upgraded on detached models for increased air volume and filter capacity.

In the 50" Wide Ductless Fume Hood example pictured above, the total height of the system is 41.5" (including filter knobs at the very top) with the filter/fan unit situated on the top of the hood

 

When the filter/fan unit is removed, the hood is only 25" H.

The length of the flexible connecting hose is selected depending on a variety of factors, including air volume needs and workspace arrangement. Lengths can vary from 6 feet to 12 feet. 

Filter Combinations

A variety of filter combinations are available for a wide selection of applications. Filter media options include:

• HEPA Filters: 99.97% efficient on particles 0.3 microns and larger.
• ASHRAE Filters: 95% efficient on particles 0.5 microns and larger.
• ULPA Filters: 99.9995% efficient on particles 0.12 microns and larger.
• Activated Carbon Filtration
• Specialty-Blended Media: Mercury, Ammonia, Acid Gas, Aldehydes
 

The majority of Sentry Air's Air Cleaners are able to house multiple types of filters (i.e. HEPA & Activated Carbon) for applications that require both the removal of particulate and fume.
